Information Disclosure Statements Requirements - U.S. and International

Daniel Coughlin, a member in Mintz Levin's Intellectual Property Section, spoke at the 8th Annual International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI) Open Forum on October 6 - 9, 2004, in Venice, Italy.  Daniel participated in a panel that presented on information disclosure statements requirements in different countries, moderated by Kazuaki Takami of Japan, Vice-President of FICPI's CET (Study and Work) Commission.  Well over five hundred delegates from more than fifty countries attended the forum.

Established in 1906 as Fédération Internationale des Conseils en Propriété Industrielle, of which "FICPI" is the acronym, as an association of intellectual property attorneys in private practice, FICPI is an organization working for the interests of patent and trademark professionals world-wide, with members in 70 countries.

Daniel is a member in the firm's New York office.  His practice focuses on obtaining and litigating patents related to pharmaceutical products and compositions, including active ingredients arising from genomic/biotechnology research and from typical small molecule development programs. Another part of his practice involves the interface between patents and the FDA approval process for both novel and generic pharmaceutical products. Daniel also devotes part of his practice to counseling domestic and foreign clients on the protection of intellectual property in a global marketplace, with an emphasis on the international pharmaceutical industry.
